By Craig Drucker, D.C.
Chiropractic treatment is not determined by chiropractic insurance or the benefit fund, Only the Chiropractor who is treating the patient knows what is in the best interest of the patient. The coverage or benefits does not insure high-quality chiropractic care but merely fulfills a contract with your employer.
The benefit fund or insurance companies have a very strong profit motive and will do everything possible to maximize their profitability. Chiropractic insurance is based on the terms of your contract that were negotiated between your employer and the chiropractic insurance company and not my chiropractic office. The goal of most insurance companies and benefit funds is to provide the basic care for specific services. The benefits you receive from your plan have nothing at all to do with you or achieving a high quality complete result.
Chiropractic insurance is a highly complex area that creates confusion fbr many patients. The complexities and a lack ofsufiicient information provided by some companies make it almost impossible for some patients to properly understand their benefits and places the patient and the chiropractic office at odds.
Our practice has virtually no control over the amount of coverage a patient receives. You may not be entitled to 100% coverage, but only partial benefits. Your chiropractor needs
to dictate treatment, not the insurance companies.
